Peggy I. (Isaacs) Carmichael, age 73, of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was a member of Brownstown Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She loved her church, and she loved helping others, including her church family.

Mrs. Carmichael was a receptionist for Aaron E. Ison, D.D.S. for many years.

Peggy loved her family dearly, loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she also loved camping with her husband and her family. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano, gardening, and volunteering at the Hornet’s Nest and Medora Goes Pink. Peggy was a member of the Jackson County Extension Homemakers, wherein she served as past president.

Born on March 17, 1949, in Seymour, Peggy was the daughter of Richard and Wilma Oathout Isaacs, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 23, 1968, at Honeytown Christian Church, she married Gary Carmichael, and he preceded her in death on January 4, 2022.

Survivors include two daughters: Cari (Mike) Boggs of Columbus, and Amy (Steve) Blair of Medora; grandchildren: Hunter (Paige) Boggs, Chase Boggs, Bryant (Jessica) Carmichael, and JD Fish; great-grandchildren: Paislee Boggs, Reid Boggs, Brooklyn Thompson, Braxton Carmichael, and Sawyer Carmichael; two brothers: Larry (Sue) Isaacs of Medora, and Bill (Linda) Isaacs of Walton; and two sisters-in-law: Suzy Isaacs of Brownstown, and Joy Soladine of Brownstown.

Peggy was also preceded in death by one grandson, Austin Fish; and one brother, Dickie Isaacs.

Funeral services for Peggy I. (Isaacs) Carmichael will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Doug Pogue officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Robertson Cemetery, Honeytown.

Memorials may be given to Brownstown Christian Church Building Fund.
