Raymond E. “Ray” Rigsby, 81, passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside, on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his home in Indianapolis, IN. Ray was born on January 21, 1941, in Crothersville, IN. He was the son of Rueben R. and Ruby L. Rigsby, both who preceded him in death.

On February 27, 1960, at Henryville Baptist Church he married the love of his life, Mary R. (Oles) Rigsby, who preceded him in death on January 12, 2020.

Ray was a 1959 Crothersville High School graduate and, two days after graduation, he started working for Cummins Engine Co. He worked for 37 years until he retired in 1996. After being retired for 2 months, he started his own company called Rigsby & Associates and retiring officially in 2010. Working a total of 51 years.

Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crothersville, IN, as well as Washington Masonic Lodge #13 in Brownstown, IN. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He enjoyed woodworking and remodeling houses throughout the years, always making them into stunning homes. He enjoyed playing board and card games, watching IU basketball, listening to music, and was an avid collector.

Survivors include three children, Michele (Chris) Douglas of Indianapolis, IN; Michael (Sharon) Rigsby of Indianapolis, IN; and Melissa (Dan) Sheehan of West Dundee, IL; 4 grandchildren, Joshua Todd (Brittany) and Meg Mackenzie Douglas; Eric Michael and Cole Tyler Rigsby; 2 step grandchildren Dylan Thomas and Justin Daniel Sheehan; 1 great grandson, Cooper Julien; and 1 sister Linda G. (David) Gambrel of Crothersville, IN. He was also preceded in death by his son, Eric Todd Rigsby, on June 22, 1996.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville, with a sundown burial to follow at Crothersville. Visitation will be on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville and after Noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
