Lutheran students pledge their faith

Ten students in the eighth grade publicly confirmed their faith at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour during a recent service.

The students have been studying the teachings of the Bible for several years, either in Wednesday evening classes or through their daily education at Immanuel Lutheran School.

In the rite of confirmation, the students publicly affirm the faith of the Lutheran Church and pledge their faithfulness to Jesus Christ. Families, sponsors, friends and church members also affirm their ongoing prayers and support. It is considered an important milestone through which students accept a greater responsibility for their own spiritual growth, become eligible to receive Holy Communion and become adult voting members of the congregation.

The newly confirmed students receiving Holy Communion for the first time were Daniel Bode, Abigail Dannettelle, Lola England, Anslee Hawkins, Max Hoene, Izabellah Long, Aidda Schepman, Kaydence Spradlin, Samuel Parisi and Lincoln Wessel.

A dinner was held in honor of the confirmands at the church the night before.
