SEYMOUR

On Tuesday morning, April 16, 2024, Jerry Lee Hohenstreiter passed away and is finally at peace and out of pain. He had resided at Hoosier Christian Village since August 2022 under the wonderful care of all the nurses and staff. He was born on January 15, 1949 to the late Robert and Ruth (Lewis) Hohenstreiter in Seymour, Indiana.

Jerry met his wife, Kathy on July 30, 1998, and was married to her exactly one year later by Pastor Bloch at Immanuel Lutheran Church, surrounded by their children. Jerry worked in maintenance at Seymour Housewares until dementia took over in 2009. He had also worked at Seymour Manufacturing and Boknecht trucking. He was the go-to guy if you ever needed something repaired or built.

Anyone who knew Jerry knew that he had a love of horses – whether it be riding, buying, selling, trading, or just sitting on the tack room porch talking with anyone who shared his passion. He also loved boating with family and friends at Lake Monroe and long weekend trips to Dale Hollow Lake. To say Jerry will be terribly missed is an understatement.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Dwayne (Kathy) Hohenstreiter, Melanie (Kevin) Miller, Bree (Doug) Stuckwisch, and Justin (Samantha) Corne, Jordyn (D.J.) Henkle, Jaryn Corne, Jacob (Kyra) Corne; sixteen grandchildren, Sarah, Trent, Ashlie, Trey, Kenzi, Kenlee, Griffin, Eli, Maddix, Moses, Mya, Koleman, Keating, Kailor, Finley, and Kallan; and sister, Cheryl (Gary) Wingler.

He is preceded in death by his parents, listed above; and brothers, Allen, Steve, and Jim Hohenstreiter.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held Monday, April 22, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Voss and Sons Funeral Home, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour. Pastor Philip Bloch of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 11:00 am until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hoosier Christian Village, designated to their activities department, or to donor’s choice.
