Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars traveled to Bedford on Thursday for a matchup with the Stars. It was an back-and-forth battle through the first couple of innings, as Bedford held a 5-2 lead after three frames.

The Stars added two runs in the fifth inning, before adding five more in the sixth to end the game at 12-2. Bedford improved to 7-2 on the season, while the Cougars fell to 1-5.

Trinity compiled five hits as a team. Peyton Pollert, Nathan Finke, Chase Bode, Blaine Wehmiller, and Kowan Gross all recorded one hit in the loss.

The Cougars host Brownstown this morning at Trinity High School at 10 a.m.

Brownstown Central

The Braves faced off with Austin on Tuesday, tossing a one-hitter in a 12-3 win over the Eagles.

Brownstown’s Trent Lowery got the start, pitching five innings, allowing no hits, and striking out 12 batters. Jaxson Johnson pitched in relief, going two innings, allowing one hit, and struck out four Austin batters.

The bats didn’t lack either for the Braves, who recorded 14 hits in the 9-run win. Johnson, Ethan Garland, and Grayson Cassidy led the team on offense with three each.

Pierson Wheeler had two, while Lowery, Chick Tiemeyer, and Lane Pendleton recorded the other hits. Cassidy tattooed a baseball over the left field fence to kickstart the night for Brownstown. The homer scored Preston Garrison.

Brownstown Central faces Trinity Lutheran this morning at Trinity high school for a doubleheader, beginning at 10 a.m.

Softball

Crothersville

The Tigers faced multiple teams during the week. Dropping both matchups to Waldron and Borden. Crothersville lost to the Mohawks, 22-7, before dropping the game with Borden 17-0.

Against Waldron, Crothersville drew 13 walks and compiled two hits and four runs batted in, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Mohawks exploded on offense. Kinsey Martin, and Laekon Colwell led the team with three walks each. Colwell recorded a hit and so did Grace Walker.

The Tigers would be no-hit in their game against the Braves. Crothersville now prepares for a matchup with South Central on Wednesday Apr. 24th beginning at 5:30 p.m. The game will be at Crothersville.

Seymour

The Owls battled Columbus East in a Hoosier Hills Conference matchup on Thursday, dropping the contest to the Olympians, 2-0. One home run made all the difference when Baleigh Fish homered in the first inning for Columbus East, being the only hit for the Olympians on the evening.

Seymour shut down Columbus East after that, even outhitting the Olympians 5-1 in the game. Taylor Stuckwisch pitched for the Owls, lasting six innings and striking out nine batters. She allowed the lone hit and walked just one batter in her performance.

Zoe Williams led the team on offense with two hits, Stuckwisch, EmmaKae Sweet and Whitney Reed added the other hits for Seymour. The girls will compete with Decatur Central today in a tournament at 12:30 p.m.

Brownstown Central

The Lady Braves softball team grabbed another win on Thursday in a battle with Scottsburg. Brownstown captured a 2-0 win, after a complete game shutout on the mound from Kelsey Schneider. She allowed six hits and struck out six Warriorettes in the process. It was the first loss of the season for Scottsburg.

Rylee May and Brooke Meahl had the best performances on the offensive side of the ball. Meahl opened up the scoring with a sinlge in the top of the fifth inning. May then recorded a double and an RBI in the sixth for an insurance run, securing the win for the Braves.

Kyndle Huddleston and Emily Dillman recorded the other hits for Brownstown Central. The Lady Braves will be in action again, when they host Henryville on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
