Cougars improve to 2-0 with 23-5 win at South Decatur; Seymour falls to Shelbyville

Trinity Lutheran’s softball team improved to 2-0 Tuesday afternoon with a 23-5 win at South Decatur.

Seymour had its’ record evened up at 1-1 when it lost 6-0 to Shelbyville at home.

Cougars roll

Trinity Lutheran came up with 11 runs in the second inning and five each in the third and fourth innings to roll over a young South Decatur team.

Trinity batters collected 18 hits with Addi Burcham ripping three singles and a double and scoring three runs. She also had two RBIs.

Olivia Cain, Gracie Lance, Zoe Dulaney and Addison Keaton each finished with two with Cain and Keaton both driving in three runs. Morgan Brewer finished with a double, scored two runs and had three RBIs, and Maddie Adams and Dianna Munoz scored three runs each.

Cami Keaton pitched the first two innings and Lance finished up and they combined to allow nine hits, strike out nine and walk two.

Trinity will host Jac-Cen-Del Saturday morning.

Bears top Owls

Seymour managed only three hits against Shelbyville.

Phoebe Underwood, Diam Diem Castetter and Taylor Stuckwisch had singles for the Owls, and Underwood and Avery Stewart drew walks.

The Owls will be home Thursday against Scottsburg.
