Becker’s Hospital Review has named Schneck Medical Center a top hospital for physician and for nurse communications.

Becker’s determined the honors based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, according to a news release from the Seymour hospital.

Schneck received five-star ratings in both physician and nurse communications for how well each explained care and treatment, listened carefully to the patient and treated the patient with courtesy and respect.

Schneck was the only hospital in the region to receive these recognitions. In Indiana, Schneck was one of only seven to be named as a top hospital for physician communication and one of only 10 as a top hospital for nurse communication.

“Patient safety, patient satisfaction and positive patient outcomes all depend on effective communication,” said Dr. Eric Fish, CEO and president of Schneck. “I am so appreciative and proud of the care and compassion Schneck physicians and nurses put into their roles. They spend more time listening to and learning about our patients to provide exceptional, high-quality care.”
