Fredrick V. Stuckwisch, age 84, of Brownstown, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at his home.

Fred was a life-time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown.

Mr. Stuckwisch was a grain and livestock farmer, and he served in the United States Army.

Fred loved spending time on the farm with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He also loved playing music in his own band, “Back Country” for 30 years, and researching family genealogy and history. Fred served on St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Board and on the National Spotted Swine Registration Board for several years. He was also a member of the Jackson County Pork Producers.

Born on April 24, 1939, at his home in Jackson County, he was the son of Frederick J. and Thelma (Vahl) Stuckwisch, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 16, 1966, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown, he married Shirley Darlage, and she survives in Brownstown.

Survivors also include two sons: Ed (Sara) Stuckwisch of Brownstown, and Russell Stuckwisch of Brownstown; three grandchildren: Amanda (Emmitt) Hanner, Matthew (Emily) Stuckwisch, and Abby Stuckwisch; sisters-in-law: Joyce Stuckwisch and Elberta Darlage; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and Elberta Darlage.

Fred was also preceded in death by two brothers: Richard D. Stuckwisch, and John H. Stuckwisch.

Funeral services for Fredrick V. Stuckwisch will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown, with Pastor Ryan Schneider officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown.

Interment will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Brownstown.

Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, and Vietnam Vets 7.

Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Building Fund.
