A traffic stop Tuesday on Interstate 65 near Seymour led to the arrest of two Washington state residents on drug-related offenses, police report.

Luckey E. Morris, 47, of Everett, Washington, faces a Level 6 felony charge of possession of methamphetamine, while Alayna M. Charvet, 44, of Lake Stevens, Washington, faces a Level 5 felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and Class A misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

According to a news release from Seymour Police Department Lt. C.J. Foster, the incident that led to the arrest of the pair began when Seymour interdiction officers stopped a gold Chevrolet Cruze for a moving violation on Interstate 65 at the 48 mile marker.

During the stop, officers deployed K-9 Koni, which alerted to the presence of a narcotic odor. Both Morris and Charvet were detained while the vehicle was being searched, and during the search, officers reported finding suspected methamphetamine and marijuana along with drug paraphernalia.

Both were arrested at that time and booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown — Charvet at 12:29 p.m. Tuesday and Morris at 12:43 p.m. During the book-in process, jail officers found suspected methamphetamine on Charvet.

Both were being held Wednesday without bond pending their initial hearing.
