Track and field

Tigers race in SAC meet

The boys and girls track and field teams from Crothersville competed in the Southern Athletic Conference meet on Tuesday and Thursday.

The boys placed fourth with 24 team points, and the girls were sixth with three points. Borden won the girls meet, while Henryville won the boys meet.

Scoring points for the Tigers were Dirk Crater, who was SAC champion in the 1600 with a personal-best time of 4:44.42 and the 3200 with a time of 10:49.24.

Corey Reynolds placed fifth in shot put with a throw of 32-5 and he was fifth in discus at 89-2.

For the girls, Morgan Womack was sixth in shot put at 26-3.5 and fifth in the 100 in 15.46.

The girls track and field sectional will be Tuesday at Seymour, and the boys sectional will be Thursday at Bedford North Lawrence.

Softball

Trinity outlasts Borden

The Trinity Lutheran softball team was in a high-scoring game on Friday on the road as the Cougars were able to get the win 11-8 over Borden.

The Cougars had 12 hits on the game. Morgan Brewer had three hits, Addie Keaton and Madison Keith both had two hits, and Bailey Tabeling, Grace Lance, Olivia Cain, Maddie Adams and Rowan Sharp all had one hit.

Lance had three RBI, Tabeling and Keaton each had two RBI and Adams had one RBI.

Lance pitched all seven innings and she had seven strikeouts.

The Cougars (12-8) will host Brownstown Central this morning at 10 a.m.

Tennis

Owls’ match postponed

The Seymour girls tennis team was scheduled to host New Albany on Friday for the Hoosier Hills Conference championship, but the match was postponed due to inclement weather.

The Owls and Bulldogs will now meet on Monday at Seymour at 5:30 p.m.

Trinity match rained out

The Trinity Lutheran girls tennis team had its match at New Washington rained out on Friday night.

The Cougars will play at Southwestern Shelby on Monday before sectionals next week.

Golf

Cougars match cancelled

The Trinity Lutheran boys golf team had its match cancelled at Oldenburg Academy on Friday.

The Cougars will next play on Tuesday against Jennings County and Orleans at Shadowood Golf Course.
