Softball

Braves beat Cougars in 9 innings

It took two extra innings, but the Brownstown Central softball team was able to win at North Harrison 6-5 on Thursday night.

Kelsey Schneider, Rylee May, Kyndle Huddleston and Olivia Justice all had two hits, and Kinzee Dean, Emily Dillman, Rylin Huddleston and Brook Meahl all had one hit.

Kyndle Huddleston and Dillman both had two RBI, and May and Meahl each had one RBI.

Rylin Huddleston pitched 2.1 innings and had one strikeout, and Schneider pitched 6.2 innings and had eight strikeouts.

The Braves (13-9) will play at Trinity Lutheran on Saturday.

Tigers fall to New Washington

The Crothersville softball team lost to conference opponent New Washington 15-0 on Thursday night.

Kendall Berry hit a double for the Tigers, and Zoey Prince and Laekon Colwell each drew walks in the game.

Dacie Hughes pitched the first three innings and Prince pitched the final inning.

The Tigers will next host Cannelton on Saturday.

Baseball

Pirates hit walk-off on Braves

The Brownstown Central baseball team was knotted 4-4 at Charlestown on Thursday night before the Pirates got one run in the bottom of the seventh to win the game 5-4.

Ethan Garland, Pierson Wheeler and Jaxson Johnson all had two hits, and Ethan Fultz and Chick Tiemeyer both had one hit.

Tiemeyer had a 2-run home run and Garland had a solo home run.

Garland also pitched 6.0 innings and had three strikeouts, and Trent Lowery pitched 0.2 innings and had one strikeout.

The Braves (16-7) will play at Borden for a doubleheader on Saturday.

Rock Creek tops Crothersville

The Crothersville baseball team put up nine runs on Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough as Rock Creek Academy won the game 15-9.

Devin Morgan had three hits to lead the Tigers, and Beau Napier, Lucas Hilton, Blake Robinson and Nolan Nickell all had two hits. Morgan and Nickell both had three RBI, and Hilton and Corey Reynolds each had one RBI.

Napier pitched 5.2 innings and had eight strikeouts, Robinson pitched 0.1 innings and Morgan pitched 1.0 innings and had two strikeouts.

The Tigers (1-13) will host Thrival Indy Academy at home on Saturday.

Golf

Stainbrook shoots 66

Crothersville’s Andrew Stainbrook played at Wooded View Golf Course on Wednesday with Clarksville, Eastern (Pekin) and New Washington.

The Musketeers were the only ones with enough players for a team score, and they shot a 229.

Stainbrook shot a 66 for Crothersville, and he will play again next Wednesday at South Central.

Track and field

Tigers, Braves full results to come

The Brownstown Central boys track and field team won the Mid-Southern Conference meet at Corydon on Thursday night as the Braves scored 117 team points. Full coverage with photos will be featured in Saturday’s Tribune.

The boys and girls team from Crothersville also competed in their Southern Athletic Conference meet this week. The boys were fourth and girls were sixth, and the Tigers’ full results will be in Saturday’s Tribune, as well.
