Trinity wins third straight

The Trinity Lutheran baseball team won its third straight game on Saturday as the Cougars defeated Springs Valley 6-3 at home.

The Cougars scored two runs each in the first, second and third innings to get the victory.

Chase Bode led the team with two hits, and Nathan Voelker, Jackson Trueblood, Sage Broughton and Luke Coomler all had one hit.

Bode and Trueblood each had two RBI, and Drake Goodpaster and Broughton each had one RBI. Andrew Bell, Peyton Pollert, Voelker, Broughton and Bode all accounted for the runs.

Trueblood started for Trinity, went five innings and had five strikeouts. Voelker pitched the final two innings and had two strikeouts.

Trinity is now 10-10 this season and will play today at Christian Academy.

Golf

Braves, Owls play in Bloomington

The boys golf teams from Brownstown Central and Seymour played in the Bloomington North Invitational on Saturday at Cascades Golf Course.

Center Grove won with a 304, Westfield 308, Bloomington North 309, Columbus North 311, Floyd Central 317, Brownstown 322, Bedford North Lawrence 325, Columbus East 326, Terre Haute North 334, Seymour 340, Perry Meridian 346, Edgewood 350, Martinsville 363 and Bloomington North JV 374.

Caiden Gwin led Brownstown with a 78, followed by Micah Sheffer 80, Matthew Reedy 82, Chandler Stahl 82 and Smith Hackman 90.

Manny Fontanez led Seymour with an 82, followed by Ty Stuckwisch 83, Noah Surface 84, Luke Baker 91 and Trenton Morris 96.

The Braves will host the Owls later today at Hickory Hills Golf Club at 4:30 p.m.
