Greenhouse sales underway at local schools

Horticulture students and FFA members at Jackson County high schools are ready to sell what they’ve grown in their greenhouses.

Brownstown Central High School students began selling April 24 at the school, 500 N. Elm St., Brownstown. Agriculture teacher and FFA Adviser Blake Hackman said they have more than 50 varieties of flowers, vegetables and ferns for sale. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, the greenhouse will be open at Crothersville High School, 109 N. Preston St., Crothersville, during the community yard sales. A large selection of bedding and vegetable plants, hanging baskets and patio pots will be available for purchase. The greenhouse is open other times during regular school hours.

Also at CHS, Crothersville FFA will be selling pork burgers, and the Phi Beta Psi Theta Nu Crothersville Chapter will have a bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Seymour FFA’s plant sale is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the greenhouse on the west side of Seymour High School, 1350 W. Second St., Seymour. Petunias, begonias, geraniums, vincas, impatiens, grasses, tomatoes, peppers and more will be available to purchase.
