Owls remain perfect

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning and Seymour holding on to an 8-7 lead over a tough Salem team, Braden Richey stepped up to the plate with runners on second and third, and he sent a rocket up the middle for a two-run single to make it a 10-7 ball game.

That gave Jack VonDielingen enough of a cushion to comfortably close out the game in the top of the seventh inning as the Owls defeated the Lions by that three-run margin at home on Friday night.

VonDielingen’s final three outs were a pop up, ground out and strikeout. VonDielingen had 2 strikeouts in two innings. Charlie Longmeier got the start on the mound and pitched the first five innings and got the win, striking out four batters.

Bret Perry had three hits, VonDielingen had two RBI, Charlie Longmeier had a hit and a RBI, Treyton McCormick had a hit and RBI, Cockerham had two hits and a RBI and Richey had two RBI.

Seymour is now a perfect 5-0 this season and will take on Hoosier Hills Conference foe New Albany at home on Saturday morning for a doubleheader, starting at 11 a.m.
