Cougars roll past Rebels

The Trinity Lutheran softball team rolled to victory on Thursday night at Southwestern (Hanover) as the Cougars beat the Rebels 18-3.

Olivia Cain led Trinity with four hits, four RBI and two runs. Dianna Munoz had one hit and three RBI, and Madison Keith had three hits for two RBI.

Bailey Tabeling, Grace Lance, Maddie Adams and Marci Leinart each had one RBI. Tabeling and Adams each had three hits each, as well.

Lance got her second straight win in the circle for the Cougars. She pitched all five innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out 10 and not allowing a walk.

The Cougars (1-0) will be back in action tonight at Jac-Cen-Del at 5:30 p.m.

Braves lose late lead at Jennings

The Brownstown Central softball team had a 3-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning on Thursday night at Jennings County, but the Braves were unable to close out the Panthers as JC came back to win 4-3.

Kyndle Huddleston, Rylee May, Brooke Meahl and Sophie Wayt all got hits for the Braves with May getting two. Huddleston had the lone RBI for Brownstown.

May, Meahl and Olivia Justice each scored one run.

Kelsey Schneider pitched 4.1 innings for Brownstown, allowing three hits while striking out four batters. Rylin Huddleston pitched the other two innings for BC, and she also had four strikeouts.

The Braves (0-1) will be back on the road tonight at Hauser at 5:30 p.m. Brownstown will open at home on Saturday against North Decatur at Southwestern (Hanover).

Seymour falls at Scottsburg

The Seymour softball team went on the road to Scottsburg on Thursday night, and the Warriors were able to defeat the Owls 3-0.

Abby Followell had two hits to lead Seymour, and Alexia Rieckers, Phoebe Underwood, Taylor Stuckwisch and Delaney Warren each had one hit.

Scottsburg scored two in the third and one in the sixth to secure the victory.

The Owls (0-2) will play again tonight at Brown County at 5:30 p.m.
