Cougars roll to victory

The Trinity Lutheran girls basketball team had a dominant performance on Monday night at Greenwood Christian as the Cougars rolled to a 72-17 victory.

Bailey Tabeling led Trinity in scoring with 23 points and Jordan Brewer added 20 points.

Liza Froedge scored nine, Madison Keith eight, Maddie Adams six, Laura Roeder three, Morgan Brewer two and Marcie Leinhart had one.

The Cougars are now 16-6 on the season and will play home against Madison on Thursday and home against South Decatur on Saturday to close out their regular season slate.

Swimming and diving

Lady Owls cruise to two victories

The Seymour girls swimming and diving team hosted Providence and Henryville on Monday night, and the Owls picked up two decisive victories.

Seymour beat Providence 139-37 and beat Henryville 142-24.

In the 200 medley relay, Lauren Bode, Sydney Bush, Addy Castetter and Lillian Simons took home first place in 2:11.18. Brylee Ramsey, Nicole Rebber, Emily Windley and Sophie Coates were second in 2:29.77.

Katya Cox won the 200 freestyle in 2:13.28 while Sallie Nicholson was second in 2:26.69. Amber Ault won the 200 IM in 2:40.83, Makenna Greenawalt was second (2:43.19) and Krenzley Zumhingst was third (2:47.13). Laney Reinhart was victorious in the 50 freestyle with a time of 28.04.

In the 1-meter dive, Kate Connell won first place with a score of 162.85.

Kylie Grove won the 100 butterfly in 1:13.98, Avery Miller was second in 1:15.77 and Carmyn Wilson was third in 1:18.43.

Bode, Simons and Coates swept the 100 freestyle. Bode swam a 1:04.35, Simons 1:04.59 and Coates 1:10.64.

Avery Stewart was the first-place finisher in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:29.42, and Stephanie Lara Lopez was third in 6:30.56.

In the 100 backstroke, Bush (1:17.03), Ramsey (1:18.22) and Lyndsey Greenawalt (1:21.11) earned the top three spots, respectively. Cox (1:21.12), Castetter (1:21.23) and Rebber (1:24.40) swept the 100 breaststroke as well.

The 200 freestyle relay was won by Grove, Ault, Greenawalt and Cox in 1:56.62, and the 400 freestyle relay was won by Stewart, Zumhingst, Avery Miller and Wilson in 4:18.31. Reinhart, Lara Lopez, Staesia Fields and Nicholson were second in the 400 relay in 4:26.75.

The Lady Owls are now 14-2 on the season. This was the girls’ final regular season meet before sectionals next Thursday and Saturday at Floyd Central.

The boys will be at Floyd Central this Thursday and Saturday for the Hoosier Hills Conference meet.
