The Bedford Parks Department’s program for the month featuring a program on southern Indiana’s caves will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 24

Carl Ritter, a well-known outdoor education specialist, will talk about the amazing caves he has explored in Indiana, according to a news release from the parks department.

He will describe some of the more than 4,000 caves in the state, how they form and where they are located. The fragile ecosystems, delicate formations and cave life will be included on a PowerPoint presentation.

Ritter welcomes questions on caves and the regulations and safety recommendations related to exploring them. Southern Indiana has many commercial caves that are open to the public.

The presentation will be held at the historic Otis Park Bath House located between the Red Brick Mansion and the golf course office at 607 Tunnelton Road east of Bedford.

RSVP to the park office for the program at 812-275-5692 or email [email protected] so enough handouts and chairs are available.
