BROWNSTOWN

James E. Lewis, 74, passed away December 14, 2022. He was a resident of Brownstown.

He was born April 16, 1948 in North Vernon, IN to Ray W. and Ruby J. Terry Lewis. He married Judy Patton on May 31, 1967. Survivors include his wife, Judy Lewis of Brownstown; three sons, James R. (Sharon) Lewis of Brownstown, Joseph W. (Beth) Lewis of North Vernon, and Jerry Lee Lewis of North Vernon, IN; one brother, Clarence Ray Lewis of North Vernon; one sister, Carol Porter of North Fort Myers, FL; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leonard Joseph Lewis; and one sister, Phyllis George.

James was a self employed landscaper for over 30 years in Florida. He also was employed locally as a contractor, including for Ed Trimpe and George Pfaffenberger.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a former member of the VFW.

Calling will take place on Monday, December 19, from 5-8PM at Voss & Sons Funeral Home, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour. A funeral service will take place at 10AM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN.
