Trinity wins seventh straight

After dropping the first game of the season at Brownstown Central on Nov. 15, the Trinity Lutheran girls basketball team hasn’t lost since.

On Thursday night, the Cougars picked up their seventh consecutive victory, winning on the road at Christian Academy 68-29.

Bailey Tabeling continued her impressive scoring stretch as she dropped 36 points on Thursday night. Liza Froedge added eight points, Laura Roeder also scored eight and so did Madison Keith. Morgan Brewer added six points and Jordan Brewer scored two.

Leah Stevens and Macy Jackson led Christian Academy in scoring with nine and eight points, respectively.

The 7-1 Cougars will be back in action on Saturday at home against Orleans at 1:30 p.m.

Also on Saturday, at halftime of the Trinity boys game at night against West Washington, Tabeling will be honored for breaking the Jackson County scoring record, which she continues to add to as this season goes on.

Seymour falls at BNL

The Seymour girls basketball team dropped its second straight game as the Owls struggled offensively at Bedford North Lawrence on Thursday night.

The No. 4-ranked Stars were able to beat the Owls 64-25.

Seymour led 12-11 after the first quarter, and then the Stars ended the first half on a 16-0 run to take a 33-16 lead into halftime. That dug the Owls in a hole they weren’t able to get out of on the road.

After Brooke Trinkle missed Tuesday’s game with an illness, she returned Thursday to lead Seymour in scoring with 12 points, which she scored all in the first half.

Kendall Sterling scored nine points, Claire Marshall scored two and Elizabeth Kirby had two.

The Owls, now 7-2 and 0-2 to start HHC play, will stay on the road on Saturday at Madison at 1:30 p.m.

Rebels top Tigers

The Crothersville girls basketball team hosted conference foe South Central on Thursday night in The Jungle, but it was the Rebels that were able to come away with the win.

South Central got to 1-1 in the Southern Athletic Conference after defeating Crothersville 57-21.

JoJo Clay led the Tigers in scoring with 17 points, and Hali Burton scored the other four points.

Crothersville now drops to 0-8 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.

The Tigers will be back at home on Saturday for a varsity only contest against Rock Creek Academy at 12 p.m.
