From Dartball History: With the addition of new teams Immanuel Darty and Hayden United Methodist, and the return of the Dudleytown Mets after a 15-year hiatus, the league stands at 20 teams this year.

In October of 1952, representatives of men’s clubs from five Lutheran churches met at St. John’s Sauers to discuss the possibilities of having a dartball league. These five representatives from Jonesville, Dudleytown, Wegan, Sauers and Redeemer had interest in forming a league. They decided to call the league the Lutheran Dartball League and play darts the first Monday of each month.

At this first meeting, Paul Schepman was asked to serve as chairman and Walther Mueller as secretary. At this meeting, August Goecker was elected treasurer of the league and Teacher Selke as official scorekeeper. It was decided that each player pay 10 cents for each game they play with half going to the league and half to the team. For the first season, the dart board which Victor Darlage had received from Teacher Rieckers was to be used. The first night of league play was Nov. 3, 1952.
