Seymour junior Jack Pennington had a breakout season at wide receiver for the Owls this fall, and he was recognized for his efforts across the state.

The Indiana Football Coaches Association releases a senior and junior all-state team across all six classes throughout the state.

Pennington was the lone player in Jackson County to find his way onto one of the all-state teams. The Owl receiver was named to the IFCA Class 5A Junior All-State Team.

Pennington was having a good sophomore campaign two years ago before going down with an injury. He was able to stay healthy all season this past fall, and he led the Owls in receiving with 45 catches for 712 yards and seven touchdowns.

He not only sparked Seymour’s offense, but he also played a vital role in special teams. Pennington would often kickoff, he would split time with Josh Rennekamp as the team’s punter and he also split time with Adrian Medina as the team’s field goal kicker.

The junior was an important piece in Seymour going 6-4 this season and winning a share of the Hoosier Hills Conference title for the first time since 2001.

Pennington was one of two receivers on the IFCA 5A Junior All-State team, along with Bloomington South’s Drew Crum-Hieftje.

The remaining members on the offensive side for the team are Aidan Steinfeldt (TE, Bloomington North), Landon Roberts (OL, South Bend Adams), Jordan King (OL, Fort Wayne North Side), Matt Hofer (OL, Valparaiso), Max Wynalda (OL, Bloomington North), Timothy Dixon (OL, Evansville North), Brady Fisher (QB, Mishawaka), Jaden Hart (RB, Michigan City), Antonio Harris (RB, Castle), Graham Freund (K, Bloomington North) and Dash King (ATH, Bloomington North).

On defense, the IFCA 5A Junior All-State team featured Tysen Smith (DL, Bloomington South), Roshaun McGee (DL, Merrillville), Terrelle Elmore (DL, Merrillville), Marvin Campbell Jr. (DL, Decatur Central), Lukas Rohrbacher (LB, Snider), Jackson Snyder (LB, Mishawaka), Ralph Rogers (LB, Bloomington South), Landon Drennan (LB, Plainfield), Brandon Logan (DB, Snider), Tyler VerSchure (DB, Valparaiso), Nyrius Moore-Smith (DB, Whiteland), Tre’Von Stephens (DB, Merrillville), Clay Pinnick (P, Franklin), and Samuel Lockhart (ATH, Floyd Central).
