A Seymour man faces a felony charge after an infant tested positive for methamphetamine, police report.

Edward Jesse Swindall, 48, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 10:21 p.m. Sunday.

Earlier Sunday, investigators with the Seymour Police Department were contacted by the Indiana Department of Child Services advising there was a 10-month-old infant that tested positive for methamphetamine at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, according to a news release from Lt. C.J. Foster.

The child was admitted to the hospital for observation, and investigators met with DCS officials to find out what occurred.

During the investigation, investigators developed probable cause to obtain a Jackson Superior Court 1 search warrant for an apartment in the 300 block of South Jackson Park Drive.

Officers and investigators executed the search warrant a little after 8:30 p.m. During the search, Foster said meth and marijuana were found, and Swindall was arrested.

Another individual claimed responsibility for the marijuana, and charges will be filed with the prosecutor, Foster said.

As of Monday, Foster said the child was in stable condition. The investigation is still ongoing.
