Friends and Neighbors club meets in Brownstown

Eight members of the Friends and Neighbors Home Extension Club traveled to Blondie’s Pizzeria and Pub in Brownstown on Oct. 25, where they enjoyed salad and pizza.

Then they met with Richard Beckort, agriculture and natural resources educator for Purdue Extension Jackson County, in the courthouse. He conducted a walking/talking tour into the archives of the courthouse. It was a very interesting and educational session.

President Ruby Niccum opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the club creed. Ruth Bateman read a very old Guidepost devotional. A get-well card was signed for a sick member.

Niccum asked for volunteers to work at the annual bake sale fundraiser Nov. 5 at Immanuel.

Members will meet at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Cornerstone Community Church to attend the Fall Fling at Brownstown Christian Church. Remember, this is a pitch-in meal. Also, take canned goods or household products for donation to local food pantries.

The Dec. 13 meeting has been rescheduled to 1 p.m. at Kay’s Kafe in Brownstown. Members should bring a Christmas hand towel for exchange. Flavored coffees, teas and baked items will be available for purchase.

The meeting closed with singing of “Blessed Be the Tie That Binds.”
