Peacock family gathers for annual reunion

The 95th Peacock reunion was Aug. 14 at the Jennings Township Conservation Club with 71 in attendance.

Timothy Peacock gave the noon invocation and called the meeting to order.

Eunice Lacey read a poem in memory of the four who had died since the last reunion. They were Carnet Peacock, son of Mamie and Manville Peacock; Joyce Sampson, daughter of Bicknell and Ladonna Peacock; Carol Peacock Pyratt, daughter of Maynard and Estelle Peacock; and Dorothy Johnson Peacock, wife of Gayle Peacock and daughter-in-law of Virgil and Glenn Peacock.

Elected to office for 2023 were Sean Smith, president; Billy Snowden and Roscoe Peacock, vice presidents; Eunice Lacey, secretary and treasurer; Lisa Conner and Cindy Clements, entertainment committee; and Bobby and Everett Peacock, refreshment committee.

The entertainment committee did the gifts differently this year. Lacey gave away some of her things she had collected. Everyone who was there received a gift. Everett Peacock, who normally brings Peacock gifts, was on vacation, so it worked out great.

The rest of the day was enjoyed by the children playing on the playground. Some of the older ones played horseshoes, took pictures, looked at pictures and caught up over the year.

Next year’s reunion will be at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Jennings Township Conservation Club.
