Owls top Bulldogs

The Seymour boys tennis team defeated New Albany 4-1 on Tuesday night at home for senior night.

Hunter Heckman won 6-0, 6-1 at two singles, Parker Thompson won 6-0, 6-0 at three singles, the one doubles team of Jack VonDielingen and Joe Schmidt won 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, and the two doubles team of Trevor Alberring and Reuben Kruse won 6-1, 6-2.

New Albany’s lone point came at one singles, where John Fulmer defeated Eli Meyer 6-4, 6-1.

Seymour’s seniors were Meyer, VonDielingen, Heckman, Schmidt, Alberring and Kruse.

The Owls are 9-1 this season and will be off until Saturday when they compete in the Shelbyville Invite.

Braves sweep Panthers

The Brownstown Central boys tennis team went on the road to Corydon Central on Tuesday night and came home with a 5-0 victory over the Panthers.

Smith Hackman won 6-2, 6-2 at one singles, Pierson Wheeler won 6-0, 6-2 at two singles and Lane Steward won 6-2, 6-1 at three singles. The one doubles team of Connor Gwin and Bryce Reaser won 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, and the two doubles team of Evan Schneider and Elix Preston won 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

The Braves are now 4-5 this season and will host Bedford North Lawrence on Thursday.

Cougars win 3-2

The Trinity Lutheran boys tennis team came away with a 3-2 victory at home over South Central on Tuesday night.

Jack Stuckwisch won 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at two singles and Nathan Finke won 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 at three singles. The one doubles team of Nathan Voelker and Jonathan Neawedde won 6-1, 6-4 to round out Trinity’s three points.

Solomon Hall lost 5-7, 1-6 at one singles, and the two doubles team of Will Gaussman and Max Peters lost 2-6, 0-6.

The Cougars will play again on Thursday at Henryville.
