The third annual Seymour Police Department DARE Jeep Adventure Rally is coming up Oct. 8 and 9.

Registration on Oct. 8 will start at 9 a.m. with the event to start at 10 a.m. The cost is $40 per Jeep and includes an entry decal, a route map, a door prize, an off-road course entry and one T-shirt.

For Oct. 9, the cost is $10, and gates will open at noon.

Preregistration is open until Sept. 23 online at seymourpd.com/dare-jeep-adventure-rally, by stopping by the police department, 205 N. Ewing St., Seymour, or by calling 812-522-5131 to fill out a form over the phone. Only those preregistered are guaranteed T-shirts for this year.

SPD’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education team has created a Jeep road rally that will take participants through some of the most scenic areas in Jackson County. This tour offers both guided and self-guided options. Clubs and groups are welcome. The event is designed for Jeep vehicles only. A controlled off-road park also is part of the adventure for participants to navigate if they choose.

The event also will include door prizes, a silent auction, a rock crawler area, a woods trail and food trucks.

All proceeds collected will benefit SPD’s DARE program, which serves 500 to 700 students annually and supports them in decision-making skills to support a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
