Barbara Sue “Barb” James Poole, 83, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:38 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born October 10, 1938, in Aurora, she was the daughter of Charles Grant and Sylvia Mae (Kinmon) James. She married William “Bill” Poole on March 21, 1959, in Aurora; he survives.

Barb was 1956 graduate of Milan High School and attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary. She worked as a legal secretary and draftsman for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 36 years and had also worked for Monsanto Chemical. Barb was a member of the Office Committee Union where she served as secretary, treasurer, and business agent. She was a member of the First Christian Church in North Vernon. Barb enjoyed traveling, going to Florida, watching the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving with her husband of 63 years, Bill, is her son, Terry (Misty) Poole of Seymour; daughter, Tammy (Marvin) Bray of Georgetown, Kentucky; grandchildren, Rachel (Devin) Brown and Tara (Conner) Ertel, both of North Vernon, Sydney Stahl, Sophia Stahl, Saige Stahl, and Hudson Lange, all of Seymour; and great-grandchildren, Leo and Graham Ertel, both of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Ronald James.

A private funeral service will be held with burial in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
