Morris Eugene Hanner, age 83, of Norman, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Hanner was a life-time member of Jonesville Christian Church, where he served as Deacon and Elder for many years. He loved his church.

Morris worked at Cummins Engine Co. retiring after 39 years of service. While employed at Cummins, he also farmed and attended farmer’s markets with his produce. Mr. Hanner was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriner’s Club for many years.

Mr. Hanner loved his family, and he had a passion for gardening and farming. Morris also enjoyed traveling, fishing, and listening to Blue Grass and Gospel music.

Born on April 24, 1939, at his home in Kurtz, Morris was the son of Woodrow and Marjorie Lutes Hanner, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 22, 1959, in Bedford, he married Linda K. Bowman, and she preceded him in death on September 22, 2008. On January 10, 2009, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, he married Judy Baker Green and she survives in Norman.

Survivors also include three sons: Brad Hanner of Columbus, Todd (Crystal) Hanner of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gary Hanner (Mike Boyd) of Texas; two step-sons: Tim (Debbie) Green of Charlestown, and Tedd (Tara) Green of Bloomington; three step-daughters: Cyndi (Tony) Frame of Virginia, Pam Green (Tony Vega) of Louisville, and Patty (Craig) Fischer of North Carolina; two brothers: Ronnie (Joy) Hanner of Hope, and Nolan (Patty) Hanner of Seymour; two sisters: Ruth Hall of Norman, and Karen Stradley of Brownstown; six grandchildren: Chad Hanner, Alisha Hanner, Tessa Henson, Morgan Hanner, Maci Cooper, and Gabe Hanner; step-grandchildren: Trevin Frame, Taylin Frame, Aaron Fischer, Natalie Patterson, Les Curtsinger, Shannon Cunningham, Emily Dahmer, Tyler Dahmer, David Green, Izaak Green, and Addison Green; sister-in-law, Beverly DeWitt; brother-in-law, Dale Sovern; several great-grandchildren; and many cousins.

Mr. Hanner was also preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Hanner; one sister, Wilma Sovern; two brothers-in-law: Jack Hall and Jeff Stradley; one step-grandchild, Madeline Fischer; and one step-son, Thomas Green.

Funeral services for Morris Eugene Hanner will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Cyndi Frame officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown.

Interment will be at Kurtz Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Jonesville Christian Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
