Fire chief announces city fireworks regulations

With the Fourth of July just a month away, Seymour Fire Chief Brad Lucas wants to remind people of when they can set off fireworks in city limits.

Fireworks are regulated by city ordinance 92.45, passed in 2009, which prohibits the use of fireworks in city limits except for on the following days:

Between the hours of 5 p.m. and two hours after sunset June 29 and 30 and July 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

Between the hours of 10 a.m. and midnight July 4.

Between the hours of 10 a.m. Dec. 31 and 1 a.m. Jan. 1.

Fines for violations are not to exceed $2,500.
