A Seymour man was arrested Wednesday for child molestation by police investigating a complaint received in late May.

Chad Aaron Shouse, 42, faces charges of child molesting, a Level 3 felony, and obstruction of justice, a Level 6 felony.

On May 22, Seymour police took a complaint from a mother who said her 9-year-old child had been molested in the area of South Broadway Street in Seymour, according to a news release from Lt. C.J. Foster.

Detectives with the department along with investigators from the Jackson County office of the Indiana Department of Child Services then collected evidence and information related to the case.

During that investigation, Shouse was identified as a suspect, interrogated by police and then arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday.

As of Thursday, he was being held without bond.

In Indiana, a Level 3 felony means three to 16 years in prison with an advisory sentence of nine years if convicted.
