Meeting set with Little Hoosier Historians

The Hayden Historical Museum will host a combined meeting of the Hayden Little Hoosier Historians with the general public at 6 p.m. May 24 in the Hayden pavilion.

The fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders who make up the grade school history club will be wrapping up their school year. A brief review of the chapter activities and programs will be presented, and recognition will be given to the outstanding members.

The highlight of the program will be special guest speaker Steve Elsner. He is a former Hayden student and Jennings County High School graduate. He graduated from Notre Dame University with a degree in aerospace engineering and began working at NASA in 1982.

Elsner lives in Texas but has come back to the area on occasion and was a guest speaker for the Little Hoosier Historians three previous times. He will be sharing some of his experiences while he was a supervisor of communications with Mission Control in Houston, Texas. He ended his career with NASA when he retired in 2017. He will welcome questions from the audience following his talk.

Refreshments will be available afterwards, and visitors may see the various museum buildings.
