Morris Joseph “Joe” Hirtzel, 78, passed away at his home April 6, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of Seymour.

He was born August 7, 1943 in Seymour to Francis and Dessa (Morris) Hirtzel. Survivors include three sons, Joseph “Joe” R. Hirtzel of Seymour, Karl (Diane) Hirtzel of Brownstown, and Michael Webb of Bedford; two daughters, Leeann (Michael) Kelley of Scipio, and Katrina Hirtzel of Seymour; six sisters, Theresa Dowling of Plymouth, MA, Clara May “Mazy” (Robert) Miller of Gypsum, CO, Betsy (Frank) Hauenchild of Crete, IL, Joyce (Ralph) Hansen of Lake Forest, IL, Lucinda Bastin of Bloomington, and Rose (Tom) Lewendowski of Portage, IL; daughter in law, Julie Hirtzel of Seymour, IN; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great granchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, James R. “Rick” Hirtzel; a grandchild, Danika Merrie-Kaye Collins; and his long time companion, Molly Woods.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, and the Eagles.

Joe was his own man and did his things his own way. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, going to auctions and most importantly collecting treasures.

Joe was a over the road truck driver when his children were younger but spent the rest of his life working maintenance at various jobs.
