The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees met Monday at the Medora Library.

Library Administrator Mary Reed presented the 2022-23 capital projects, including computers and related hardware at all locations in 2022 and 2023, Crothersville and Medora HVAC replacement and Seymour door system upgrades in 2022 and a 2016 van replacement in 2023. A facility cost evaluation was tabled to a meeting when all board members could attend.

Library Director Julia Aker went over 2021 annual report figures. In 2021, the library was closed to the public with curbside or drive-thru service for nine weeks, open 39 weeks and had limited occupancy for four weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year’s income exceeded expenses by $259,606, and most service statistics were still down from 2019 figures, Aker said. Library staff worked socially distanced during closures and provided reference answers to 18,795 questions and both in-person and virtual programs to 9,700 people of all ages.

The board’s next meeting is at 4:30 p.m. April 18 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.
