SEYMOUR
Mrs. Rita Kay Davis Wood (Mam or Mammaw), 74, of Seymour, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on August 24, 1947, in Washington, Indiana to the late Junior and Bernice (Bateman) Davis. On (November 7, 1964, in Lawrenceville, Illinois) she married Michael G. Wood.
Rita attended Washington High School in Washington, Indiana and received her GED from Columbus North High School in Columbus, Indiana. She was a hairdresser in her younger years. Rita was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was selfless, loving, and so kind. She would give any one the shirt off her back. There wasn’t an animal that she and her husband wouldn’t rescue. Rita loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than her own life. She enjoyed playing such a huge role in their upbringing. Rita worked at several factories in the area such as Spartans, Silgan, and Aisin. She retired from Wal-Mart as a cashier which was a job that she really loved. She met so many customers at Wal-Mart that became her friends. People always wanted to go through her check-out line as she was just so nice and caring. She was a one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include Daughter Shannon (Wood) Parlagreco (Nathan Schwein) Hayden, Indiana, Son Michael Shane Wood (Kaci Wilson) Brownstown, Indiana, Grandchildren Alexa (Collin) Ulrey, Seymour, Indiana, Jordan Parlagreco (Chad Stebbins) Lake Forest, Illinois, Sydney Parlagreco, West Palm Beach, Florida. Nicholas Parlagreco (Greenwood, Indiana), Erin Parlagreco (Hilton Head Island, SC) Turner Hoffar (Brownstown, Indiana). Great-grandchildren: Brennan Ulrey (Seymour, Indiana), Avery Ulrey (Seymour, Indiana), Reese Ulrey (Seymour, Indiana), Tara Parlagreco (Greenwood, Indiana) Luke Parlagreco (Greenwood, Indiana) Nathaniel Williams (Hilton Head Island, SC) Jaylin Wright (Hilton Head Island, SC), Terrance Wright, (Hilton Head Island, SC), and Alexus Wright (Hilton Head Island, SC), Sister: Vicki Davis (Washington, Indiana) and several nieces and nephews.

A walk-thru visitation will be held on Wednesday at Voss Chapel from 4-8 PM. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Washington, Indiana beginning at 11:00 am.
