Joan C. McMahon, 77, passed away on February 1st, 2022, at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson, MI. Joan was born on June 29, 1944, in Seymour, IN to William A. States and Faye A. (Kiewitt) States who both preceded her in death. On May 3, 1969, she married Paul F. McMahon in Scottsburg, IN, they spent 49 wonderful years together until Paul passed away on November 3, 2018. Joan was a 1962 Crothersville High School graduate. After graduating she attended Indiana University School of Nursing where she graduated in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She worked as an RN for the Veterans Administration where she worked all over the U.S. from coast to coast retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Jackson, MI, and while living in Ohio she was a member of the Medina United Church of Christ in Medina, OH, and a former member of the church she grew up in Crothersville, IN the Immanuel United Church of Christ Church. Her world revolved around her grandchildren, she moved to Michigan after she retired to take care of and be a part of their lives. Survivors include 1 daughter Erin C. (Mark) Hetherington of Jackson, MI, 2 grandchildren Blake Thomas Hetherington and Logan Reese Hetherington. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Shannon.
