Library announces March programs

The Jackson County Public Library is offering in-person programs for teens and adults in March.

Program location and/or cancellation may depend on the county COVID-19 status.

Adults are invited to celebrate March as National Craft Month by picking up a spring messenger bird take-and-make beginning Tuesday through March 12 in Seymour or Tuesday through March 10 in Medora.

Make a decorative yarn egg at the Crothersville adult craft program at 4:30 p.m. March 9. Registration is required by March 7 with a limit of eight participants.

Purdue Extension Jackson County Educator Richard Beckort will talk about pollinators in your backyard at 2 p.m. March 11 at the Seymour Library. Registration is required by March 9, and there is a limit of 10 attendees.

Learn about essential oils for allergies presented by Kimberly Sooy at 2 p.m. March 12 at the Seymour Library. Registration is required by March 10 with a limit of 10 participants.

Jackson County weaver Dee Nierman will discuss her award-winning rag rugs and will be presented with the 2020 Indiana Heritage Fellowship at 2 p.m. March 26 at the Seymour Library.

Programs offered for teens ages 12 to 19 also will be subject to county COVID-19 status.

Gamers ages 13 to 18 are invited to join the JCPL Teen Discord Server on March 10 to play board games during B.G.A. Night.

Teens are invited to join the Teen Advisory Group. An introductory meeting will be at 4 p.m. March 14 in the Seymour Teen Scene.

During spring break, Seymour teens are invited to participate in the following spring break programs in the Teen Scene: A STEAM green thumbs program at 1 p.m. March 21, discussion of the book “11 Paper Hearts” by Kelsey Hartwell at 4 p.m. March 22, virtual reality games from 2 to 4 p.m. March 23 and Perler beading at 1 p.m. March 24.

As long as Jackson County remains in red or orange status on the Indiana COVID-19 dashboard and map, which can be found at coronavirus.in.gov, masks are required at library programs. Attendees should plan to bring their own mask.
