Jackson County boys learn sectional pairings

The Indiana High School Athletic Association unveiled the boys basketball sectional pairings on Sunday evening, and now, the teams in Jackson County know who awaits them in the postseason starting next week.

First up, the Seymour boys will host the sectional, and the Owls received a bye for the first time since 2014.

Sectional play will begin March 1, and the first game will be Jeffersonville versus Bedford North Lawrence at 6 p.m. Floyd Central and Jennings County will follow that game at 7:30 p.m.

Seymour will take on the winner of Jeff/BNL at 6 p.m. March 4, and New Albany will await the winner of Floyd and Jennings. The championship game is slated for 7:30 p.m. March 5.

The Owls, 13-6 this season, will play at Shelbyville tonight and at Silver Creek on Friday to close out their regular season.

Next up is the Brownstown Central boys, who also received a bye for its sectional at Edgewood High School.

The Braves will await the winner of Edgewood and South Vermillion, which will be playing at 7 p.m. March 1. Brownstown will take on the winner of that game at 6 p.m. March 4.

The other games in the bracket are West Vigo versus Northview, which will happen at 6 p.m. March 2, and Owen Valley versus Brown County, which will follow that game at 7:30 p.m. The winner of those two matchups will meet at 7:30 p.m. March 4.

That sectional championship also will be at 7:30 p.m. March 5.

The Braves are currently 19-3 on the season with a seven-game winning streak, and they will close the regular season Friday at Orleans.

Finally, Trinity Lutheran, Crothersville and Medora are all in the same sectional at Edinburgh High School.

The Cougars will play first one week from today against host Edinburgh at 7:30 p.m. The winner will advance to play Crothersville, which received a bye, in the sectional semifinal at 7:30 p.m. March 4.

Medora, which also received a bye, will play the first game March 4 at 6 p.m. against the winner of Shawe Memorial and West Washington.

The sectional championship will play be played at 7:30 p.m. March 5.

Trinity (8-14) closed its regular season on Monday night at Rising Sun, Crothersville (3-18) will close its regular season on Friday night when it hosts Austin and Medora (4-18) will host Rising Sun on Friday night to close its regular season.
