Lending a hand

Thumbs up to the staff of Larrison’s Diner in downtown Seymour. I was making a delivery to a business in Seymour and decided to eat at the diner but couldn’t find a place to park my truck. I was able to park a couple of blocks or so away. I placed my order and said I only had one leg so it might take me a little while to get there. They told me not to worry, they would bring it to me, and they did.

Solid gold

Thumbs up to the Trinity Lutheran High School vocal ensemble of Addison Bumbleburg, Kaitlynn Rowe, Nanami Higa, Sarah Lemming, Samantha Enzinger and Riley Lawles. They received a gold rating in the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday at North Decatur High School in Greensburg and will perform at the state level this Saturday at Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis.

Braves of the Month

Thumbs up to the three girls recently recognized by their teachers as Brownstown Central Community School Corp. Students of the Month for January. They are fourth-grader Bella Brown, sixth-grader Makensie Grider and freshman Hailey Bowman.

Record-setting

Thumbs up to the queen candidates in the 49th annual Cancer Dance organized by the Phi Beta Psi Theta Omega chapter of Seymour. The seven contestants, Madalyn Baurle, Morgan Branaman, Chloe Covert, Kamzi Gross, Hayley Harpe, Chloe Mellencamp and Lillie Wessel, helped raise a record-setting $25,732 for the sorority’s national project — cancer research. Branaman, who raised the most funds, wound up being crowned queen during the dance held Feb. 5 at Pewter Hall in Brownstown.
