SEYMOUR

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Micheline Marguerite Olivarez (nee Guignat) at the age of 83 on January 3, 2022, in Seymour, Indiana of Alzheimer’s.

She was born in Issoudun, France February 15, 1938, to Albert and Clementine Guignat and was raised in the hardship of occupied France and the post-war years. This informed her frugal ways – left-overs were to be eaten or provided for the birds, never thrown away. She met the love of her life, a handsome American soldier, Oscar Olivarez, in 1959. They were married and started a family, moving every few years to different military bases in the United States and Europe and finally settling in central Texas until his retirement. They moved to Indiana in 1995 to be close to their daughter and grandchildren.

Micheline was dearly loved by her extended family and many friends. She had an elegant French sense of style and kept an immaculate home. She was admired for her old-world propriety and sensibility. Her children, grandchildren and all their friends adored and respected her. She was a force of personality and caring in their daily lives, full of energy and concern. She also enjoyed a good party and often led the singing and dancing at gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Guignat and sister Marie Therese (Jean Francois) Meret. She is survived by her husband, Oscar, brother Michel (Francoise) Guignat; 6 nephews and their families; three children, Dolores (Christopher Bunce) Olivarez, Jerome (Tamera) Olivarez, Vincent (Melody) Olivarez; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Her family will host a private celebration of life memorial.
