Library board approves pay raise

The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees met and approved 2022 closings and board meeting dates during its regular meeting Nov. 15 at the Seymour Library.

The library will be open to the public on federal holidays in January, February, June, October and November with staff working those days taking a floating holiday later in the year. Board meeting dates are at 4:30 p.m. on the third Monday each month, which include those January and February holidays.

The nominating committee presented a slate of officers for a vote at the December meeting. New officers that would start their positions in January are President Dan Davis, Vice President Kathy Ellis, Secretary Jaime McRoy, Assistant Secretary Don Myers and Treasurer Mary Reed.

The board heard a report from Information Technology Specialist Ben Boyer and approved a resolution to establish an American Recovery Plan Grant Fund, changes to the internet acceptable use policy, surplus furniture, one-time supplemental pay for all staff on Dec. 2 and a 3% raise plus $1 more per hour effective Dec. 27 for the Jan. 6 payroll.

The board’s next meeting is at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.
