Arts center seeks memberships, sponsorships

Southern Indiana Center for the Arts is celebrating its 30th year of bringing art to south central Indiana.

Eric DiBlasi Jr., president of the arts center’s board of directors, said the last two years have been interesting, to say the least.

The Artful Affair gala fundraiser was canceled in 2020, and with the state of COVID-19 and the delta variant in recent months, the board decided to not pursue that event this year, either.

In 2022, though, it will be back.

“During 2020, we did not solicit memberships because of the state of the world,” DiBlasi said. “In 2021, we held off soliciting until we had a full class schedule so we could offer discounts to members. Again, with the state of the world, we never quite got the full list we had hoped to have.”

The center has received local, regional and national grants to carry through the COVID-19 era, but the main financial support comes from memberships, he said.

SICA provides services for area artists, arts education for children, art instruction and arts appreciation by all. The center also is a 501(c)(3) organization, so memberships are tax-deductible.

“With your support, we will grow and thrive, creating new experiences that will enrich the lives of our community,” DiBlasi said.

Membership levels are individual ($25 to $49), household ($50 to $99) and patron or small business ($100 to $499).

The sponsor level memberships are silver ($500 to $999), gold ($1,000 to $1,999) and platinum ($2,000+).

Memberships can be renewed at the center between 2 and 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays or mail payment to SICA, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour, IN 47274.

DiBlasi said people also can reach out about programming ideas or becoming a volunteer.
