Virgil Kleffman, 98, of Seymour, passed away at Lutheran Community Home, at 12:00 am, Saturday, November 7th. He was born in Bartholomew County in 1922, to the late August and Malinda (Hoene) Kleffman.

Virgil was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Borchers, he enjoyed playing on the Dartball team, farming, and hunting quail. Virgil worked as a truck driver all his life, and was the oldest person to haul gravel from Spray’s Sand &Gravel. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and landed at Utah Beach, he drove a jeep in blackout for the captain, and was an interpreter.

Virgil and his wife, Maude Kleffman (Anderson) were married for 74 years. Virgil and Maude were always together. It was known that Virgil’s truck would not run correctly without having his wife, Maude in the vehicle with him.

He is survived by his sons, Benny (Kathy) Kleffman, Ernie (Christe) Kleffman; daughter, Connie (John) Knoke, 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, Maude (Anderson) Kleffman; parents, son, Neal Kleffman; brother, Herschel Kleffman; sister, Mildred Carter; and great-grandson.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Borchers, Tuesday, November 9th at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be held 10:00AM until the time of service at noon. All services will be conducted by Voss and Sons Funeral Service.

Military rights will be conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
