Local sports roundup

The Cougars competed in some unusual circumstances on Friday at home versus Austin, as only three positions competed.

Austin’s seniors were on a senior trip, so therefore Trinity got two points at three singles and two doubles via forfeit. Drew Hubbard is the three singles player for Trinity, and Erin Enzinger and Rebekah Brown make up the two doubles team.

So the three matches that were played on Friday came from one singles, two singles and one doubles, and the Cougars won at all of those positions.

Sarah Lemming 6-0, 6-1 at one singles, Regan Cain won 6-1, 6-0 at two singles, and Katelyn Mensendiek and Kiley Zabel won 6-0, 6-1 at one doubles. Trinity won the match 5-0.

Trinity will be back in action on Monday when it travels to Southwestern (Shelby) for a match at 5 p.m. Monday is also when the sectional draw for girls tennis will be, so the Cougars will know who they match up against later that night as well.

The sectional for girls tennis will begin next Wednesday.
