Trinity alum earns All-Crossroads League first team honors

The Crossroads League announced its 2021 All-Crossroads League softball team on Wednesday afternoon, and Trinity Lutheran High School alum Savannah Harweger received honors.

The 2019 TLHS graduate had a successful second season at Marian University playing softball and reaped the rewards for it. She was named to the All-Crossroads League first team for the first time in her career.

She is joined on the first team by two of her teammates, Kassidi Cadle and Shelbie Stotts. Marian had eight different players named to the All-Crossroads League teams, gaining 12 total honors from the league.

Marian won the Crossroads League regular season championship, and Harweger was a big part of the team’s success. She was second on the team in the conference season with a .419 batting average, recording 57 hits while also hitting 22 home runs. She had seven doubles and two triples in the 36-game league season, scoring 35 runs. She also led Marian with 17 stolen bases on the year.

In addition to the first team honors, Harweger received All-Crossroads League Gold Glove honors at the shortstop position. She carried a fielding percentage of .958.

Harweger and Marian, currently 45-13 overall, will be competing in the NAIA opening round against Indiana University Southeast at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Columbia, Missouri.
