The Brownstown Central softball team got a good win on Thursday over Scottsburg, winning 4-1.

Emily Singleton, Kelsey Schneider, Addyson Coomer, Rehgen Stuckwisch and Rylee May all got hits on the day. Singleton’s was a homerun.

Rylin Huddleston pitched all seven innings, giving up four hits and three walks while also striking out nine.

Brownstown will compete in the Whiteland Invite on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Track and field

Crothersville girls take first, boys place third

The Crothersville girls track and field team had a good night on a chilly Wednesday against Henryville and Clarksville. The Tigers won the meet with a score of 64. Clarksville was second with 37 and Henryville was third with 23.

Shea Reynolds won the shot put with a 27’10”, Kaylee Caudill won the discus with a 60’16”, and Kennadi Lakins won both the high jump and long jump with a 4’5” and 14’3 1/2”, respectively.

Kaylyn Holman won the 1600 with a 5:35, the 800 with a 2:34 and the 3200 with a 12:22. Ella Plasse took second to Holman in the mile and two mile, but she set PR’s in both events, running a 6:14 in the mile and 13:13 in the two mile.

The girls’ 3200-meter relay and 1600-meter relay both took home first place as well.

As for the boys, they placed third in the meet with 8 points. Henryville won with 77 and Clarksville was second with 58.

David Rose had a good day in the distance events, placing second in the mile with a 5:18 and first place in the two mile with a 11:20.
