Seymour defeats New Albany 7-4

The cold weather couldn’t slow down the hot bats of the Seymour softball team Tuesday night when the Owls traveled to New Albany for a matchup against the Bulldogs.

Eight different batters had hits on the day for the Owls, and Kendrick Sterling had double-digit strikeouts on the mound, which ultimately led to a 7-4 victory.

Alyssa Perry had two runs, two RBI, a single and a triple; Kynadee Warner had two runs, a double and three singles; Grace Meyer had two runs, two RBI and two singles; Kendrick Sterling had two RBI and a double; Kendall Allman had one RBI and a single; Sydney Stewart had a single; Matte Nicholson had a single; and Stephanni Kleber had one run and a single.

The Owls’ seven runs were too much for the Bulldogs, who could only muster up four runs of offensive production. Sterling and Avery Stewart took care of the rest.

Sterling threw 106 pitches to 26 batters, gave up one walk, six hits and four runs and struck out 11. Stewart threw 15 pitches to three batters and gave up one walk, zero hits and zero runs.

Junior varsity played a game afterwards, but it only got to three innings and was an incomplete game due to weather.

JV, however, did play a game Monday against Brownstown Central, and the Owls lost 6-0 to the Braves. Alexa Dannettelle, Olivia Clark and Addie Keaton each got a hit for the Owls in that game.

Seymour will be back in action again at 5:30 p.m. today at home against Columbus East.
