Schneck Medical Center has been named one of the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the country.

The National Rural Health Association recently announced the 20 highest-ranked hospitals in the country based on an evaluation by the Chartis Center for Rural Health.

The selected hospitals are identified through the Hospital Strength INDEX, the most comprehensive and objective assessment of U.S. rural prospective payment system hospital performance, according to a news release from the Seymour hospital.

The determining factors for the top 20 rural and community hospitals were based on eight indices: Inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, costs, charge and financial efficiency.

“Schneck Medical Center is proud of the efforts of its physicians and staff who have contributed to our hospital achieving this designation,” said Dr. Eric Fish, president and CEO of Schneck. “Our recognition as a top health care provider means our community can count on us to deliver the services they need now and in the future.”

The National Rural Health Association is a national nonprofit membership organization with more than 20,000 members. Its mission is to provide leadership on rural health issues. Membership consists of a diverse collection of individuals and organizations, all of whom share the common bond of an interest in rural health.
