County positivity rate sits at 6.9%

On Monday, the state’s COVID-19 vaccination dashboard reported 9,761 or 22% of 44,231 Jackson County residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 7,030 or 15.8% of county residents have been fully vaccinated.

In Jackson County, 410 residents have received the Johnson and Johnson single-dose vaccine.

Since Dec. 14, 1,607,932 Hoosiers have received their first dose, while 1,088,141 are fully vaccinated. There have been 57,818 Hoosiers who have received the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

The state also announced Monday that 4,789 Jackson County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of 11 from Sunday’s total.

The positivity rate for Jackson County is at 6.9%, a 0.8% increase from Sunday’s 6.1%, according to the department’s COVID-19 dashboard.

The rate is determined by a seven-day moving average with a six-day lag to give time to receive comprehensive results. The current positivity rate for the county would be for March 16 to 22.

Jackson County is classified as a level 1 county and is a yellow level threat. 

No new deaths attributed to COVID-19 were reported in Jackson County on Monday or over the weekend, leaving the county’s death toll at 67.

There have been 52,852 COVID tests administered to 18,167 individuals in the county since March 18, 2020, an increase of 70 from Sunday’s total.

The latest results are as of 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The coronavirus dashboard is updated at noon daily.

On Monday, 730 additional Hoosiers across the state were diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at the ISDH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.

This brings the total number of Hoosiers known to have had the novel coronavirus to 684,733 following corrections to the previous day’s total.

The state’s total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 is 12,622 with five new deaths being reported Monday.

For the state, a total of 8,854,590 tests have been administered, an increase of 13,086 from Sunday’s total.
