Jackson County Public Library offering April programs online

The Jackson County Public Library is offering online programs for teens and adults in April.

Virtual programs will be posted on the library’s Facebook page with a link to the library’s YouTube channel, which can be viewed at any time. Click the "Subscribe" button on the library’s YouTube channel and the notification bell icon to stay caught up with the library’s virtual programs.

At 6 p.m. Monday, Information Services Assistant Kathi Linz will discuss raised gardening in "Potatoes in Pants."

Learn more about using the library with Virtual Tech Tuesdays. Video tutorials will be shown at 6 p.m. about placing holds in the Evergreen catalog on Tuesday and mobile printing to the library printer on April 20.

Get a preview of available books during Friday Firsts at 10 a.m. April 9 and 23. Use the Evergreen Indiana app or call to place a hold on the book.

The Spilling Ink Writers’ Group will meet virtually at 2 p.m. April 10. Linz, who also is a published author, will discuss writing for magazines.

At 9 a.m. April 22, celebrate Earth Day and see what is possible using plarn, which is plastic yarn made from grocery bags and recycled into useful items.

Joy jars will be available April 26 through May 7 while supplies last for ages 12 and older. These take-and-make crafts are suitable for a Mother’s Day gift or to enjoy for yourself.

Celebrate National Poetry Month with The Cardigan Society podcast at 6 p.m. April 27.

For teens ages 12 to 19, programs will be posted to the library’s Teen Scene Facebook page or at jcplteenscene on Instagram.

Teens are invited to create pandemic poetry about their experiences over the past year. Visit the library Teen Scene Facebook page at 5 p.m. Thursday for how to get started.

Take-and-make bee garden crafts will be available during the month of April while supplies last.

Teens can pick up a take-and-make keychain pendant April 12 to 23 while supplies last.

Join the Teen Scene discord server for virtual bingo at 4:30 p.m. April 15. Play games and chat virtually with friends.

Take-and-make Mother’s Day bath salts will be available to teens April 26 through May 7 while supplies last.

Teen totes are available for teens in grades 6 to 12 while supplies last. Contact [email protected] for information about the totes, which include a monthly themed surprise with a library book of choice.
