Trinkle’s 17 points lead Seymour girls

Behind a trio of double-figure scorers led by Brooke Trinkle’s 17 points, the Seymour girls basketball team beat Charlestown 56-46 on the road Monday night.

Grace Schrader added 14 points and Alyssa Perry 11 for the Owls in the nonconference game.

Seymour moved out to a 13-6 lead after one period, but Charlestown bounced back to take a 21-18 halftime lead before the Owls regained control in the second half. Seymour flipped the score in the third quarter, building a 16-8 margin in the eight-minute segment.

The victory provided Seymour with a 9-9 record going into the last regular-season game of the season Thursday night against New Albany at home at 7:30 p.m.

Kendall Sterling with seven points, Grace Meyer with four and Jamya Miller with three were the other Owl scorers.

Seymour opens Class 4A sectional play versus Jennings County in a 6 p.m. game Feb. 4 in New Albany.
